assignedinTONEADJUSTmodeis“MS/DK”(MultiSampleorDrumKit).WhentheassociatedswitchisON,ahiddensamplecan
bedroppedintothecurrentsound.Tryit:
1. SelectProgramI‐A‐016,RealSuitE.Piano.
2. TouchtheControlSurface tabinthelowerrightofthedisplay.On thissound,theControlSurfacedefaultsto“RTControl”,butthat
canbereadilychangedtoToneAdjustbyeithertouchingtheControlAssignpopup
inthedisplay,orbypressingtheToneAdjust
LookatSwitch5’sassignment,“1:MS/DK”(The“1”meansthatanychangeherewillaffectOSC1).
3. Touchthedefaultvalue,“PROG”(i.e.playwhattheProgramtoldyoutoplay)>Usingthenumerickeypad,T\typein
“26”andpress
theENTERswitch,orturntheVALUEDIALuntilyougetto“26”,andthentouchSwitch5toturnitON(orpre s sthehardware
SWITCH5).YoujustaddedoneEPsamplefromafamous80’ssynthtoyour“Rooooooads’‐likeEPsound!

pointforeverynewCombiyoucreate.
Drums is drums in the Drum Track? – is that all there is?
TheDrumTrackisacoolnewfeatureoftheM3,buttheDrumtrackdoesn’thavetobedrumsatall:anytrackyourecordinto
thesequencercanbeconvertedtoaDrumTrack.Itcouldbeabassline,aseriesofKarma‐strummedchords,etc.,upto32
measureslong!Tryit,you’lllikeit!
1. RecordacouplemeasuresofabassriffonatrackintheM3’smightySequencer.
2. PressthePAGESELECTswitchandselect“P10Pattern/RPPR”>Touchtheupperrightdropdownarrow,andthenselectPattern
Parameter>ChangeLengthtothenumberofmeasuresyou’vejustrecorded,
andthentouchOK.
3. TouchthecoolGetFromTrackcommand>Verifythatthenumericfieldsarepointingtowhatyoujustrecorded,andthentouchOK
>NowtouchtheConverttoDrumTrkPattern,leaving“Noteonly”selected>TheM3defaultstoselectingthe
verylastemptyuser
patternslot;touchOK.
4. TousethisPatterninProgramMode,re‐savetheProgramintotheDrumCategory.
5. TousethisPatterninCombiMode,pressPAGESELECT,selectP1DT/XY/Ctrls,touch theDrumTracktab,andintheDrumPattern
fieldsfor
Pattern,pointtowardsUserandthesavedpatternnumber>Justmakesureyouhaveabasssoundassignedtothesame
MIDIchannelyouusedwhencreatingthepattern.That’sit!

Speakingofthesequencer,don’tslightitasmerelyasixteen‐tracksequencer:Howmanytrackswouldyoulike?Becausethe
M3canre‐sampleitself,anentireMIDIsequencecanbere‐sampledasonestereonoteevent,freeingupfifteentracks,eight
DSPeffects,and118voicesofpolyphony!
Againinthesequencer,asyouknow,touchingtheTrackfieldletsyouchangethecurrenttracktoberecorded.Youcanmake
thisselectionwiththeVALUEDIAL,theVALUEslider,touchingthepopuparrow,ortypinginthedesiredtracknumberonthe
keypad.
TheM3sequenceris
16tracksplusaMasterTrack,the‘recordingsecretary’ifyouwill:itremembersanytempoandtime
signaturechangesthroughoutasong.IftheM3’snumerickeypadispartofyourworkflow,typinginthenumber‘17’willjump
yourighttotheM3’sMasterTrack.
